HistCite software uses a web browser to provide the user interface. When you start up HistCite both the HistCite software console (black screen) and your default web browser will start up.
HistCite has been developed and extensively tested using Internet Explorer, which is distributed with the Windows operating system. It works best with IE versions 6 and 7. HistCite has been used successfully with Firefox, Netscape and Opera web browsers but has not been so extensively tested.
The Help system describes operations with Internet Explorer only.
