PubMed records can be imported into HistCite, though the result is not perfect.
Do a search in PubMed and display the results in "MEDLINE" format. Save the results as a text file.
In a word processor, do to following.
1. Add the lines: FN ISI Export Format VR 1.0 to the top of the file.
2. Find and remove all "-". 3. Find and replace all double spaces with single spaces. 4. Place "ER" on a line at the end of each record.
When you open this file in HistCite it will get most of the data. There are some other refinements that you can do with Find and Replace in your text editor, but these will give you a file with the correct titles, authors and other bibliographic data.
