When doing a keyword search in the Web of Science (WOS), it frequently happens that relevant articles are missed because they don’t have your specific keywords in their titles. Also, books, magazines, newsletters, and other nonjournal publications are not covered by WOS, so they would not be identified by your search no matter what keywords you use.

HistCite helps you locate this missed material through the Cited Reference List. This is a list of citations for documents that are referenced by the articles in your WOS search results. Listed are articles in the search results that are referenced by other articles in the search results. Also listed are documents that are referenced by the articles in the WOS search results that are not in the search results. These latter cited references, especially the more frequently cited ones, are likely important documents related to the topic of your search. Once you identify such documents, HistCite has additional features that let you search for the article on WOS and add it to your HistCite collection.
